Support Afghan Asylum Seekers and Refugees, and Afghan translators and interpreters
77,000 Afghans have arrived in the U.S. since last August. Now that they are resettling into communities around the country, they have only one year to apply for asylum, and are already doing so in the thousands. Meanwhile, Afghans still living in Afghanistan are facing employment shortages, which is leading to difficult access to food and medicine. Conditions under the Taliban are increasingly dangerous, especially for interpreters and translators.
By the end of October 2022, our Afghan languages team has so far provided a total of 1206 hours of legal interpretation to refugees and to support thousands of Afghan families!

Support Haitian Asylum Seekers and Refugees, and Haitian translators and interpreters
The Biden administration deported over 20,000 people to Haiti, as well as expelled perhaps 8,000 more Haitians to Mexico in September 2021 (where Haitian migrants suffer anti-Black discrimination and violence, and limited employment opportunities). This number has only grown since. Biden has deported more Haitians than the past three presidents combined, and has continued Title 42, Stephen Miller's policy that uses COVID-19 as a pretext for deportations. For over two years, Haiti has endured mounting gang violence and kidnappings, the targeted assassinations of journalists and activists, a constitutional crisis, a devastating earthquake, and the assassination of the US-backed de facto president, who fell victim to the violence and insecurity he wrought.
Since August 2021, our Haitian Kreyol team has provided 4600+ hours of emergency oral interpretation to asylum seekers and translated 85,000+ words for humanitarian parole applications.

Support Ukrainian Refugees, and Ukrainian translators and interpreters
It is estimated that more than 7 million Ukrainians and foreign students have migrated to Poland, Germany, Romania, and throughout the rest of Europe. The UNHCR has predicted that this number will keep increasing. What we have been told time and time again by people on the ground, including our own Respond team members, is that language support is one of the biggest needs of people and organizations that are welcoming refugees.
Since February of this year, your donations have enabled the Ukrainian Language team to take on the translation of 156,000+ words for individuals fleeing the war!

Ensure that all who reach out for support can receive free, high-quality, trauma-informed language access.
Pay our Ukrainian project managers so they can afford to do the work supporting the organizations in need of language support on the frontlines. They are also working to screen, onboard and train hundreds of translators and interpreters!
