Being The Voice of Hope-By Valentina Callari Lewis

On November 3rd, 2022, a wonderful member of Respond Crisis Translation’s Bengali team provided consecutive interpreting for an individual detained who had reached out to our partner Migrant Center for Human Rights by signing up for a Know-Your-Rights presentation. He hadn’t had any other communication with the attorneys at Migrant Center, but thanks to the help of your wonderful interpreter, the attorney was able to discuss the process with him and learn what stage of the process he is in. Our partner said our interpreter was great, and didn't miss a beat.

Thank you to the wonderful interpreter from the Bengali team for working with us, and thank you to all the wonderful interpreters at Respond who are the voice of hope to detainees and people facing language barriers!
