Respond has allowed me to be a part of its passionate and dedicated team helping people from across the world. It's an honorable experience and community I'm proud to be a part of.

I'm an immigrant myself and worked in the social work field for about eight years. Working as a direct service provider allowed me to meet people from different cultural backgrounds, and helping immigrants and refugees overcome cultural and language barriers was one of the most meaningful experiences.

During Covid-19 shutdown in 2020, I was feeling overwhelmed and helpless while learning about how people were being impacted by the pandemic. Sadly, the pandemic impacted vulnerable populations even harder and isolated people from their communities. I've learned and witnessed that having access to proper resources can be life-changing; for immigrants and refugees, a language barrier can deprive them of getting the help they're in dire need of. When I learned about Respond, I was so thrilled and joined right away.

Immigrants and refugees are the basis of the U.S., but for newly arrived or the first generations of immigrants and refugees, getting accustomed to American cultures and customs can be extremely daunting. I've received so much help and support to be where I am now, and I have the privilege of speaking a second language that can be helpful to immigrant communities.

Respond has allowed me to be a part of its passionate and dedicated team helping people from across the world. It's an honorable experience and community I'm proud to be a part of.
