Translating Mental Health Facilitator Curriculum into Afghan languages

Our Dari and Pashto teams, led by our amazing Afghan languages team lead Uma Mirkhail, have been working in partnership with HIAS to make their Mental Health curriculum for group facilitators linguistically-accessible to Afghan facilitators.

The curriculum is directed at facilitators working with groups of recently-arrived refugees, and was adapted to be culturally relevant and linguistically appropriate by mental health professionals at HIAS in partnership with 6 Dari and Pashto translators and project managers on the Respond team!

As a trauma-informed approach is central to our ethos at Respond, both in how we train language practitioners and provide language support, we are grateful to get to work with HIAS on making community-centered mental health support for refugees and asylum seekers linguistically accessible!
