Siham Dahir

East African Languages Project Manager

Siham first joined Respond as a Somali translator in 2020, during the height of the pandemic, subsequently becoming a Project Manager leading the Somali Language team. Drawing from her own lived experiences, Siham is deeply committed to advocating for refugee and migrant rights. Over the years, she has dedicated herself to assisting newcomers to the UK in navigating public services and the asylum system through volunteering for grassroots community projects and charitable organisations such as the British Red Cross and the City of Sanctuary network.

Siham speaks English, Somali, and German. As an avid language learner, she is also working on her Italian proficiency while diving into Russian for the first time. In her free time, she enjoys reading existentialist novels and exploring her creativity through pottery and ceramics. Outside of her volunteering, she works full-time as a Software Engineer for a multinational company based in London, UK.
