Making Schools Inclusive to non-English Parents and Families

Respond has been working with Growing Up Green Charter Schools in Queens, New York since early 2020 to make report cards, teachers comments, and parent-teacher conferences linguistablly accessible for non-English speaking families.

Growing Up Green Charter School is committed to helping their students become conscious, contributing members of their community through a rigorous, anti-racist, anti-bias, curriculum and an engaging green culture. Since the COVID19 pandemic brought us together in the Spring of 2020, Respond’s Spanish, Portuguese, Bangla and Arabic teams have worked with Growing Up Green teachers and administrators to translate report cards and progress reports each semester. GUG’s commitment to language access and inclusion in education spaces is unique, important, and noteworthy - we are honored to partner with Growing Up Green!
