VICTORIES

WE ARE PROUD!

Since January 2024, Respond has helped 424 people directly (without the intermediation of another organisation). We never charge individuals, which means we use funds, resources from other organisations and a lot of voluntary work. The main cases have been related to asylum seekers or people trying to rebuild their lives in another country.

One of these people left a message of thanks that I would like you all to read, because it was for the Portuguese Team:

"We frequently run upon individuals whose accomplishments are exceptional. They will go far above and beyond to accomplish responsibilities while fulfilling their duties admirably. Words certainly can not adequately convey my gratitude for the sensitivity and compassion you have shown while assisting me pursue my passion for higher education despite challenges.

I appreciate your continuous efforts to strengthen our community because of you, we can encourage many more individuals to set out on new challenges and improve their destinies!"

VOLUNTEER ON THE SPOTLIGHT

Special thanks to Hiago Veiga, an amazing linguist who is celebrating two years at Respond Crisis Translation! He has already translated 39 pages, 15678 words and interpreted 37 hours for the Portuguese team!

TEAM ENGAGEMENT OPPORTUNITIES

As promised, we've organised a schedule of Coffee Breaks so that we can get to know each other, discuss struggles and victories or simply keep each other company while you're working on something else. Some of our team's main demands are related to specific terminology and document formatting, so we'll be discussing this more in our coffee break sessions, as well as taking time to get to know each other better.

WE ARE ONE

If you'd like to share any stories or knowledge with the team, please get in touch. It's good for us to be proud of the work we do and also to make people realise how important it can be to fund initiatives like ours. You can even create blog posts for us to publish on our website!

PORTUGUESE CULTURES

Did you know that Portuguese is an official language in nine countries? Only 5% of Portuguese speakers live in Portugal. Check out this video to hear 7 different accents of Portuguese overseas.

THANK YOU! AND AS ALWAYS, A HUGE SHOUT OUT TO EVERY SINGLE ONE OF BRAZILIAN PORTUGUES TEAM!

With gratitude, Vanessa, Dafnes & the Respond Crisis Translation team
