Respond team interprets for AOL v Mayorkas Hearing
Marking first time federal court is streamed in different languages
We provided a livestream in Haitian Kreyol and Spanish for yesterday’s federal court hearing Al Otro Lado vs. Mayorkas, a court case to challenge the policies that allow for migrants to be turned back when seeking asylum in the U.S. This marks the first time in the history of U.S. federal court that a hearing is streamed in both languages.
“Major shout out to @RespondCrisis. Because of them we were just able to livestream our hearing in AOL v. Mayorkas in both Spanish and Kreyol for the asylum-seeking community. It was the first time in the history of federal court that a hearing was live streamed in both languages.”
“Today we made history. Because of community organizing by @HaitianBridge & @RespondCrisis, our hearing on summary judgment in @AlOtroLado_Org v. Mayorkas, which challenges the policies of metering & migrant turnbacks @ the POE, was streamed & translated to Spanish & Kreyol.”
