The lawless and tyrannical Trump administration has pulled out every stop to endanger the lives of asylum seekers and tear apart families.
This includes the nationwide implementation of a “Bring Your Own Interpreter” policy — a diabolical trap: asylum seekers can now face deportation and arrest if they are unable to afford and find their own interpreter.
RCT is on the frontlines, fighting for people impacted by this cruel weaponization of language.
Recently several interpreters on our team have helped asylum seekers to secure their release from ICE captivity and win their asylum cases.
These miraculous legal victories over the ICE kidnapping regime have been enabled by our talented and passionate language practitioners who give hundreds of hours of interpreting and translation. Some do this pro bono, others are directly crisis-impacted and are paid dignified wages by RCT out of pocket for their highly skilled work. These tireless interpreters are stepping up and providing trauma-informed support to ensure asylum seekers’ voices are heard, and they are defended against abuses and rights violations.
